Memorial Bus Shelter – Written by Gillian Davis:

The Church Road bus shelter  is a memorial to my late husband, the musicologist Richard Beattie Davis and I put up the seed money. Bob Houlden, on behalf of the Parish Council, found two KCC grants for rural bus shelters and Tony Relf kindly drew up the plans, without charge.

The Parish Council paid for the planning application. I paid for the bench and the carving and I have recently purchased a notice board to keep our end of the village abreast of all activities and Parish Council News. Les Shaw very kindly installed the board in the shelter, which was built by Steve Barrett.

It is used by many people, which is just what Richard envisioned when we discussed the project before he died.  It is a wonderful way to remember someone, if you have a special place on a bus route!
