On Friday 12th January the Friendship Club held its Annual General Meeting at which we reviewed last years activities and introduced members to the programme for 2018. The members re elected the Chairman, Treasurer and the Committee for another year. Rosie Broadbent thank every body concern for their hard work and support. Our numbers remain good but we are always happy to have new members.
After these formalities we were all very interested to hear from John Rivers who introduced us to Defibrillators. There are already 5 of these machines in the village with another one to come to be placed in a refurbished Red Telephone Box on the Lower Green. So it is important for people to understand what these machines look like and how they can save lives. The demonstration using a plastic dummy instructed us all about the latest thoughts on administering First Aid and the brilliance of these electronic, easy to use, machines which talk to you with instructions as they go about their work! Everyone should learn so keep an eye out for further training sessions to be run by the Parish Council and spread the word to friends and family. We concluded this serious talk with our usual delicious tea.
NEXT MEETING Friday 2nd March The highly recommended Lady Crabtree talks on ‘How to Grow Old Disgracefully’ This will be a complete contrast to January’s talk and should be a bundle of laughs …..not to be missed. 2018 subscription of £12 for the year are now due and can be paid at the meeting or Elizabeth Cutchey ( 850607)
NB There will be meeting in February.
